Hattiesburg offers activities for all ages. As the home of two universities—William Carey University and The University of Southern Mississippi—the town has plenty of events catering to the younger adult crowd. Where to Stay

First, let's book a stay! Hattiesburg has plenty of hotels, but if you want to feel like a local, check out one of the many Airbnbs in town.

Breakfast & Exploring Downtown

Once your lodging is settled, plan to wake up early and head downtown, where you'll spend most of your day. Your first stop is South Bound Bagel and Coffee, where you can grab a fresh bagel, omelet, or other breakfast treat. If you're visiting on a weekend, go early, as they often sell out! After breakfast, you'll be refreshed and ready for an exciting day in Hattiesburg.

Exploring the Mobile Street District

Next, head to the Mobile Street District, just a few blocks away. This historic area is home to some of HattiesburHattiesburg's significant African American heritage sites.

Your first stop is Smith Drug Company, a local treasure from 1925. Originally a pharmacy and soda fountain stop, it became a key meeting place during the Civil Rights Movement, welcoming national activists. Today, you can grab a milkshake and take in the history within its walls.

Dinner at Fairley's Wings

By now, you're probably getting hungry, so it's time to wrap up the day with a meal at Fairley's Wings—a local favorite known for its delicious, crispy wings. I always go for the "All In." It is heavenly.
